After over a year of calls and chats with Intuit support and getting nowhere, I'm reaching out to the community to see if anyone has a similar problem and figured out a way to get through the byzantine payroll tax resolution process.
We use Quickbooks Assisted Payroll. Since Q3 2023, I've received a quarterly notice that they are unable to file or pay our Oregon taxes because the paid family leave isn't set up correctly. I've confirmed many times with support that it is set up correctly. I've been told everything from, delete the entries and put them in again and it will be fine next quarter (it wasn't) to this was never escalated to the payroll tax team so we're doing that now and you should hear back from them in a few days (that was in July and I've never heard from them) to today's call, I can't help you because the tax team only responds to emails (they don't).
So I've been filing and paying my own OR quarterly reports for 5 quarters with no one seemingly able to fix the problem. To make matters worse, in Q3 2024 they didn't refund to us the taxes they collected from employees and didn't remit, which they had done before. So now Intuit is keeping funds that don't even belong to them.
I'm so frustrated that I'm thinking of switching to a different payroll system. Has anyone else had such a protracted battle over state taxes?
@lynn63 Yes, many people have run into many similar situations with QuickBooks of late.
There are several posts on this community about it; the post history of @Just_me in particular is littered with examples of QuickBooks either not doing their job, holding money for ridiculous amounts of time, or various blends of the two.
@lynn63 Sadly, QB is full of thievery, dishonesty and lies. There are a large number of posts throughout the community regarding taxes being taken, but never paid by QB.
We don't let QB have ANY control of our money. We don't use payroll. We don't let them pay taxes of any sorts. We don't run credit cards through them. NOTHING! They are strictly for bookkeeping purposes. And our accountant is ok with that, as long as we use QB. ( It's because of him that we are stuck with this Godforsaken QB company).
You can use the search bar at the top of any page here in the community, to find others that have had the same thing happen to them, and if there are any solutions (Don't count on finding any) to your issue.
If you are wanting to get away from QB altogether, you can use the search bar for that, as well. Or just Google Accounting software. There are a lot of other options there.
Good luck.
