Payroll

Can I add a new Payroll Type so I can pay my employees by the day instead of by the hour? I need to be able to track and show in a report how many days they have worked per quarter.

Yes, Lora789. You can add a new Payroll Type in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When creating a new Payroll Type for your employee, please know that it is exclusive by the hour. You can divide the cost per day and enter this into Pay Types.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then click the Employees tab.
  2. Scroll down and find the Pay types section, then click Edit.
  3. Press Pay Type, then select Hourly or according to your preference.
  4. Enter the Rate per hour.
  5. Fill out the Hours per Day and Days per week fields.
  6. Once done, click Save.

Afterward, you can run a Payroll summary by employee report to see their total work hours at a specific time.

Furthermore, you can edit or change employee info in payroll if your employee changes their name, bank account, and other data.
