Join nowWhen updating employee information, QB Accountant Desktop 2019 locks up. Task manager status for QB is "not responding" yet the CPU % is above 25%. I do not have anything else open in QB. Can someone tell me why it is locking up and how to fix?
Hi there, @BethM2.
I hope you're having a great week so far. The reason you're having an issue with editing the employee information is that this issue is currently under investigation. You can contact our Customer Support Team to get added to INV-24741, but there is a workaround that fixes the freezing issue. You can export the employees using IIF files and import them back into your QuickBooks file. Here's how:
Export IIF Files:
Import IIF Files:
Now your employee center shouldn't freeze when you try to edit employee information. You may also find this article about exporting, importing, and editing IIF files helpful too.

INV-24741. I thought if we started posting what we are running with the software - maybe the users can figure it out. I use Quickbooks Enterprise 20 Desktop version. I also run Norton 360 and MalwareBytes. All the fixes so far (verify data, IIF file) as just like band-aids. The fixes stop working after a while. But today, I had the thought to unplug the ethernet cable (internet). I was not running Payroll so didn't need the internet. I just needed to update employee information with 2020 rates and deductions that I STILL haven't been able to do without freezing continuously. However, the employee screen worked FAST without the internet connection and I didn't freeze once.
