QB Payroll services are not worth it! Moved from DT to QBO and need amended returns

Greetings,

I have always considered QB payroll service to be the best way to go with QB users. However, 2023 has proven that QB payroll service is subpar and I will not recommend them to anyone going forward. My client moved from QBDT to QBO in June. Paid for the most expensive QBO PR service to handle the migration. System said everything was all set. We cancelled the QBDT subscription which meant we could not longer login to QBDT.

On August 1 2023, received an email saying our SUI and 941 returns were rejected. It turns out, QB Assisted Payroll filed both of those returns with partial data.  As a result, QBO was not able to file and pay the proper complete returns.

Here is the problem. QBO refuses to file amended returns and said the burden is on the taxpayer. Not only is my client the taxpayer, he also paid QBO to file the returns and they have said for 3 straight days, they will not assist in the amendment of the returns.

How is this fair? What kind of service is this?

I do not need anyone to help with the amended returns. I just want QB to do what they are getting paid to do. BE A PAYROLL SERVICE PROVIDER!

To the outside world, Intuit is a single company. No one should have to deal with QBDT vs QBO for payroll service issues. This is designed by Intuit and it should be managed by Intuit as a company and not an internal department issue. Who does this?

QB Payroll services are not worth it! Moved from DT to QBO and need amended returns

Hello @Locklearm, I understand your feelings regarding the filing of amended forms in QuickBooks. Allow me to provide you with some helpful information on this matter.

QuickBooks Online Payroll doesn't support the filing of amended or corrected forms. Therefore, you will need to undertake this process manually outside of the QuickBooks platform. You can print some payroll reports and use them as your reference when filing the amended Form 941. Here's how to run a payroll report:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and search for a payroll report.
  2. Filter the dates according to your preferences.
  3. Choose Run Report.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow from the upper right corner of your screen. If you have any further questions or concerns about managing your taxes in QuickBooks, feel free to reply to this message. I'm here to help and happy to do so. Take care of yourself.
  5. Choose Export to Excel.
  6. Open the downloaded file and print it from there.

Once done, you can now manually file the amended from outside the program and submit it to the agency.

Additionally, you can check out the list of payroll reports you can use at this link: Reports available in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

You can also customize them to get the details that matter the most to your business.

If you have any further questions or concerns about managing your taxes in QuickBooks, feel free to reply to this thread. I'm here to help.

Hi Nicole,

I am sorry you took the time to share how to handle the amended, but INTUIT has been our service provider for years. This is an internal breakdown and your response shows you INTUIT as a whole acts like two separate companies for payroll issues. I will work to find a new provider for the client.
