I just upgraded to Enterprise Solutions 2023 Desktop Subscription and now I cannot import timer activities as I did with Quickbooks Premier 2020. Quickbooks forced me to upgrade since they would not support the payroll after May 2023 and now to find out I cannot import the timer activities as I have for many years.
Has anyone come up with a solution other than subscribing to Time?
I tried to import as an iif file but the import fails and I cannot view the file to find out what the errors are.
Thanks
Hi there, @KM2023.
With the launch of QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and Enterprise 22.0, some features are no longer available. And one of these is the QuickBooks Pro Timer. As a result, importing timer activities is not an option when upgrading to Enterprise Solutions 2023 Desktop subscription.
As a workaround, you can consider visiting the QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace, which features third-party applications developed by our independent developer partners.

Thanks for your reply however this is quite disappointing to remove a perfectly good feature and to now have to pay a per user fee to track time activities. In addition, I have to spend hours trying to find the best add on to work with my company. Why did they remove this feature of importing Timer Activities?!?
There has be a better solution to this. Please bring back the Import Timer Activities Feature!
Thanks for getting back to us, @KM2023.

"Let me provide some information about the feature QuickBooks Pro Timer are no longer available for QuickBooks 2022 version. "
Thanks for your reply, but you did not answer why the QuickBooks Pro Timer is not longer available.
I did submit feedback but that will help me at the moment as it seems that many on here have submitted feedback and the QuickBooks Pro Timer importing timer activities has not been added back.
Is the timer activities going to be added back to QB 2023?
Hello there, @Gmanager.
At this time, we haven't received any update if the QuickBooks Pro Timer will be back to QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
As mentioned by my colleague MirriamM above, there are some features that are no longer available in QuickBooks Desktop, and it includes QuickBooks Pro Timer.
I understand that having this feature can help import your timer activities. As an alternative, you can consider looking for a third-party app. To do so, you can visit our QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace,

I am a CPA and honestly do not understand how Intuit could get rid of the QB timer. This product allows my employees to track time by client and by work type, bookkeeping, tax prep, audit prep, etc. It allows me to import their time and prepare paychecks, and most importantly, since I invoice my business clients on a flat monthly fee basis, allowed me to run a profit and loss report by customer allowing me to keep track of my profitability by customer, to see if I need to charge them more. It was a perfect job costing tool. I have used this program for 20 years. I reviewed T-sheets at one of the accounting shows where they told me they could do the same thing. Unfortunately, their method of accomplishing this would require me to enter a rate for each employee and customer and @ 30 minutes every payroll compared to the 3 to 5 minutes I spend with QB Timer. I would make a product suggestion if I thought there was someone at Intuit that would actually take the conversation to heart. It would not kill Intuit to make the QB timer program available in desktop versions after 2021, would it?
For all of you using the old QB Timer for your desktop payroll from QuickBooks and feeling lost there is a better solution. Gusto Payroll has a timesheet system for employees to log their time by customer and task. This time feeds to Gusto payroll to prepare payroll checks. Gusto synchronizes with QBO automatically, and if you use QBDT you can sync by importing an IIF file, similar to importing time from QB timer. This will allow you to create a profit & loss statement by the customer so you can compare employee wages to what a customer was billed. My understanding is that QuickBooks Time (T-Sheets) isn't able to do this, feel free to prove me wrong. I am using Intuit Enhanced Payroll for Accountants and QB Timer in QBDT 2021 so I know my days are numbered using this combo of tools. Too bad Intuit couldn't just keep the timer program rather than try to force me to subscribe to their timer program. As an accountant with Gusto I will also get free payroll.
So, QB raised the price, forced us to upgrade yearly, and now wants us to pay another fee to use a different timer program?
I would happily, kind of, pay a fee to continue using the QB timer, assuming Intuit doesn't get piggish about what they want to charge.
Have you found anything (including other software) that works for you?
No. I had to use Quickbooks Time until a better solution is found.
Hello! I am trying to find a resolution to the loss of QB Pro Timer for a client. Could the export come in as an excel file? If so, could we then use Transaction Pro Import tool to import the excel into QBDT?
I appreciate you for joining the thread, jv501. Allow me to assist you today by providing some clarifications about our available third-party applications.
Although the applications available on our marketplace are supported and can be integrated with QuickBooks, please know that they're still different programs and we don't have specific knowledge about their respective features and abilities.
Yes, you can import your data through Excel but it depends on your chosen third-party application. You may want to take a look at how this app works on this page: Apps help QuickBooks run better. Enter "Transaction Pro" in the Search by name, keyword, job, or category field and select Key benefits.
Alternatively, you can also get in touch with their Support Team by giving them a call or sending an email. Their contact information is also provided on the page.

I have been using QBTimer since it came out. As an Architectural Firm that bills and tracks by customer/time/class, I find being forced to upgrade, and not providing a solution to continue using QBTimer reprehensible on Quickbooks.
PLEASE provide a solution that allow our employees to enter time that can be imported into QB.
Welcome to the Community, @dug14201. I understand the importance of seamlessly entering your employee's time in the program.
There are several options you can choose to achieve this. The first one is to make use of QuickBooks Time which allows employees to enter time that can be imported into QuickBooks Desktop. The second option is to explore a third-party time management application that best suits your business.
Furthermore, please refer to this helpful article about setting up and customizing the program: Get started with QuickBooks Time.
If you have more questions about the program, I'll be happy to lend you a hand. Have a great day.
Do you know of a program that can import a CSV as time data into enterprise 2023 or 2024
Hi there, @sunflowerdiv.
I'll ensure you'll get an app to help you with importing time entries to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Since the option to import time activities in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise using QuickBooks Pro Timer is unavailable. As a workaround, you can consider visiting the QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace, which features third-party applications developed by our independent developer partners.
Otherwise, you can also utilize QuickBooks Time to sync data from QBDT to QuickBooks Time and export hours from QuickBooks Time to QuickBooks Desktop using the Web Connector. See this link for details: Sync data between QuickBooks Time and QuickBooks Desktop using Web Connector.

This is an update to my April post RE: QB time/timer for desktop. I recently signed up for QuickBooks Time to see if it would work to replace what I was using, the discontinued "QuickBooks Timer" I am thrilled to report that it works GREAT and is better than the old program. Once you get through the setup and train employees all data is captured as before. My apologies for my numerous rants on this issue
...and related expenses per employee...congratulations on drinking the Intuit Kool Aid!
Greg,
Do you think using QBT would work for lawyers to track time and bill per client hourly?
The end of the month is coming soon and it sounds like QB will not brng back the QB Time even though it works great
