quickbooks pro 2021 upgrade - where are payroll tax forms?

Recently forced to upgrade to 2021 pro. The years of pdf employee tax forms and payments are missing from the software’s interface.

In the employee center payment and filing history only dates back to the upgrade date in October.

PLEASE tell me we can find them saved somewhere?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I'm happy to lend a hand with locating your payroll tax forms. 

 

Since you've stated that you recently updated your QuickBooks to 2021, did you change computers during this update or move your company file location? QuickBooks Desktop saves all payroll forms in a secure folder on your desktop in the same location as your company file. If you moved your file or upgraded on a different computer, it's very likely that the payroll file wasn't moved with the company file and that can cause the employee tax forms to not show for you. 

 

I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. Our Payroll Support can review your account in a secure environment and has the tools available to remote into your computer to help locate the payroll folder. I've included some steps to connect with support below. 

 

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Hit Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue and tap Let's talk
  5. Choose a way to connect with us (Chat, Callback, Etc.).

quickbooks pro 2021 upgrade - where are payroll tax forms?

oh wow, i didn't even think of that. i did NOT change computers, but did have to upgrade windows. I do have a backup. i will go digging through that for the pdf's i am looking for. If i find those pdf's, is there a way to reintroduce them into the quickbooks software, the way we are used to?

I have located the pdf files from the old version of windows and the old version of QB. is there a way to integrate those tax filing forms back into the current version of QB? So they are viewable from within the QB software?

The option to integrate the previous tax filing forms back into the current version of QuickBooks is unavailable. If you have a backup company file (.qbb), just restore your file in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, go to the saved tax forms under the Filing History in the Payroll Center. Here's how: 

  1. Click on the Employees menu.
  2. Select Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, then click Process Payroll Forms.
  3. Under Filing History, find the prior year's payroll. 
  4. Click on the link under the Saved PDF column. 

 

Also, copies of your tax forms are available in the Payroll Tax Center (PTC) through QuickBooks. Also, you can request copies of tax forms as long as you are:

  • Inquiring about a quarter that has already been filed (usually 45 days after a quarter has closed).
  • Requesting tax copies for quarters in which you were using Intuit payroll service.

If his option is not best for your business, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you integrate the previous tax filing forms into QuickBooks. You can check out the apps that are compatible with QuickBooks at this link: https://desktop.apps.com/home. Any questions about integrating the app into your software are best handled by the third-party app provider.
