Hi,
I just recently started using Quickbooks Time. I bill by my time and my minimum rate is 30 min. If I spend 20 minutes on one client and then proceed to the next eventually, those small times catch up and won't let me time anymore because the time "is in the future". Is there a way to stop this? Right now, I have to wait until the end of my day and go back and change the times.
Hello, DB_Accounting.
I understand how challenging it is for you since you just started using our software. I'll share some information to help you track and manage your time.
There are different ways to monitor and log time in QuickBooks Time. You can use the Time Clock or Enter Entries to track your time. Can you share how did you enter your time? Any information can help me find an accurate solution to your problem.
Utilize the Time Clock feature to clock in, switch customers or clients, and clock out.
Here's how:
Another way is to enter your hours manually. I've added this resource to guide you through the process: Enter your hours in QuickBooks Time without clocking in.
I also would ask for a screen shoot when you say it won't let you log time anymore since the time is in the future when proceeding to the next client. So I can find a way whether we can prevent this from happening.
I'll keep an eye on this post, please don't hesitate to add any details below. Have a great day.
Thank you for your response Giovann_G.
For an example: Below is the timesheet after processing a clients payroll. It doesn't take me long to process, but my minimum charge is $25 or 1/2 hour. I have the settings to round to So when I clock out, I get the 9:30am-9:30am time with no duration It probably took me 5 - 7 minutes to process (See Screenshot No 1)
When I try to edit the time, I get the following message.
So at this point, my whole day gets backed up and I end up having to change the times manually because at this point, (until I take a lunch) all my time is in the future.
Diane
Thank you for replying Giovann_G.
My problem lies in the fact that I charge a minimum rate which calculates to 1/2 hour of time. In the Timesheet Rounding Preferences, I have it set to round in increments of 30 minutes.
For example: I just finished processing a client payroll which took me about 5 minutes. Their min charge will be for 1/2 hour.
# 1 - because I spend so little time on this client, it has not recorded any time at all. I think this is because when I initially start the timer, it starts with a negative time because that time is future time. (see screen shot No 3)
#2 - Once I spend 5-10 minutes processing payroll and clock out, my time entry shows a "-" with no time allocated. (see screenshot No 1)
#3 - When I try to manually adjust the time, I get the error message in screenshot No 2.
Screenshots 2 & 3 will be on later posts since this response only allows me to attach 1 file.
Hope this explains things a little better.
Thanks for your help!
Diane
This leads me to have to go back and adjust all clients times just so I can adjust this client. and future clients until the actual time clock catches up with the actual time.
Thanks for your prompt response, @DB_Accounting. Let me share with you the possible remedies you have in QuickBooks Time.
What we can do to resolve the error is manually enter the time at every end of the shift for your employee.
Here's how:
If you'll need to enter the clock-in and clock-out time, follow the steps below:
