Quickbooks U/I Wage Report Worksheet is not reporting Wages Correctly for WA State Unemployment quarterly tax reporting

QB desktop needs to address this issue.  I know of someone who was audited and received a large refund back from the state due to incorrect wage reporting based on the QB U/I Wage Report Worksheet which includes Sick Pay wages (the hours are correct but the wages should NOT include sick pay)  PTO/Vacation is taxable, but true Sick Pay is not.
 
Wa State requires a Qualified Sick Pay plan for all employers, and per RCW 50.04.330 and WAC 192-310-040 and sick pay wages are NOT subject to WA State unemployment insurance.  I have tried every work around I can think of to get these sick wages of the U/I worksheet, to no avail.  Has anyone figured out a work around for this issue?  I cannot imagine how many businesses have over reported wages and paid too much each quarter not knowing of this issue on the QB U/I worksheet!  I manually adjust it every quarter.

Quickbooks U/I Wage Report Worksheet is not reporting Wages Correctly for WA State Unemployment quarterly tax reporting

QB desktop needs to address this issue....  It takes over 2 hours to run a report and then all we get is "sample" data.... Used to take quite a while, but was able to go to "state Wage" tab and filter for state UI.....  it no longer works.   I've tried Excel 2007, 2010, 2019 and nothing.   This is BS for something to work one day and not the next, after QB updates.... Year End is stressful enough without this crap all the time.

Hello. It sounds like you've been through an ordeal. I want to reassure you that I'll put you on the right path to make sure this gets resolved.

 

To generate the wage report, it's essential to ensure that you have the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop installed on your computer. 

 

Once you've updated the software, you can follow these steps:

 

  1. Make an SUI file.
  2. Save the SUI file as an Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (xlsm).
  3. Open the saved xlsm file and enable macro settings (anchor), then select the ADD-INs tab.
  4. From the QuickBooks Payroll State SUI E-File dropdown, pick Refresh State Data.
  5. Choose the following to get the data again from QuickBooks:
    • State = State filing for
    • Filing Year = Correct Date
    • Quarter = Correct Quarter
  6. Click Get QuickBooks Data. It should fetch all the data this time.

Hello, 

 

Just to add to this...I understand that ESD can use my wages in the next quarter, but.....They can't  add in the hours and make it look like I worked in that quarter, when I did not or can they do this?

I appreciate you joining this thread and sharing your understanding that ESD can use your wages in the following quarter, ej_003.

 

Currently, this isn't available option for this. You'll need to have a separate report for worked hours. You have the option to either generate the Total Hours Worked by Employee report or the Payroll Summary report including the work hours.
