I need help too!

We use QB ONLINE - I'm set to married, 1 dependent and had ZERO taken out last year.  Owed taxes...

Now I've set it to same - and asked for ADDITIONAL $75/week.  Now it does one or the OTHER, not calculated PLUS 75, or so it seems.

I see references to update payroll, but using ONLINE it shouldn't be that issue.  No resolution that I've seen.

I got you covered, @ccm76065

We can run the Payroll Details report to verify if the Additional $75 per week is included in the paycheck.

I'd be happy to guide you on how:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company, go to the Reports menu.
  2. Then, scroll down to the Payroll section and look for the Payroll Details report.
  3. Once opened, set the correct date range by clicking the calendar icon.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. From there, find the employee's name and check if you can see the Additional $75/week.

If you're unable to, I recommend reviewing the set up to ensure all the information is entered correctly.

Additionally, QBO also makes it easy for you to get a handy copy or customize certain payroll reports. This will further help you in keeping your data and make sure they only display relevant details that you need.

If you have any other payroll concerns, feel free to post a reply below. I'm always willing to lend you a hand. Have a good one.

The new IRS 2020 W-4 form is very confusing. I just have my new employees fill out a 2019 W-4 form.

All these answers point out a major problem in employee setup.  Once you enter a 2020 W4 as the form in the employee setup you cannot change this and employers are left with angry employees with incorrect taxes.  Why does Quickbooks not allow this to be fixed,.  Once set it cannot be changed.  I am sure QBS has stated reasons, probably to protect themselves rather than employers.  That begs the question - there are problems and the standard quickbooks answers do not help.  It you could go back and change the W4 to the form prior form many problems would be fixed.
