Intuit hasn't updated the tax yet. You have to wait for them to get the new rate. It can't be manually updated.

They've posted here that the update will happen on Thursday, but then other's have called and get various answers on what will happen.  Reportedly a support supervisor said it won't happen until the end of the month.

But then the supervisor also said intuit doesn't have the final rate from CA, and they have to wait for it, which is nonsense as they've already updated online payroll with the new rate.  So, likely all information from Intuit on this topic is suspect.

I am running payroll tomorrow 01/05/2021 but also am not able to adjust the SDI rate to the rate provided by the EDD.  If Intuit is not updating to the correct rate should we manually do this for each paycheck or will Intuit adjust for the rate miscalculations on future paychecks?

That's probably the most accurate thing to do, especially since this is an employee paid tax.

If you don't, then as long as you pay all of your employees again after the rate is updated, QB will 'catch up' on the first check after the update/new rate is applied.  This can be a surprise to employees (unless you tell them ahead of time), but as the difference between the old and new rates is only .2%, that's just $2 per/1000 in income, so probably won't impact most employees much.

The state updates are out and the new sdi rate for California is 1.2.

I just did a full update to Desktop Enterprise and the SDI rate still says 1.0 and there are no other options. This is definitely not yet fixed.

Hi mkf92,

Are you saying that you received an update in your Quickbooks payroll software for the CA SDI rate for 2021 (1.2%)?  Or do you just mean that the 2021 California rate for SDI has been released (it has been known since at least November 2020)?

I have called and spent more than two hours to fix SDI problem and at the end nothing was updated. Then I received an email "The 2021 CA SDI rate update from 1.00% to 1.20% is expected to be released the week of January 4, 2021. It will create auto-adjustments when downloaded and ran. If payroll is ran before the update is downloaded, you can expect to see a self-correction on the next payroll run."

I run payroll update again to day 01/6/2021, still no update. Frustrated.
