Can you run a P

Hi cdodge51!

I'd like to thank you for posting again here. Let me help you but I need further details.

What is it that you want to run? If it's a report, please provide the name and we'll share the steps.

Any additional info will help us in giving an accurate resolution. I'm looking forward to your response. Thanks!

Can you run a P

Can a report be run by "Detail Type"?  i.e. we have several expense accounts where the Detail type is "Payroll Tax Expenses", and several where the Detail Type is "Legal and Professional Fees".  How can I run a report so that there is a subtotal for the different Detail Types?

Can you run a P

Hello there, @cdodge51

As of now, you cannot use the category type on your reports. However, you can pull up the Account List Report to sort your accounts by detail type.

Account detail is an intuit invention, it does not exist in accounting, and just confuses people's account detail amounts to naming the account, if you watch when you select a detail type, the name becomes that detailed type.

After you change the period, click the Run Report button to show the specific detail that you want to pull up. Here are the steps:

  1. On the Dashboard, click the Reports tab.
  2. In the search bar, type Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Change the Report period.
  4. Click the Run Report button.

You can use the Customize button to personalize the report that you want to show. Check out this link for more information: Customize report in QuickBooks Online.
