Running Enhanced Payroll in QB Accountant Desktop 2022.
Each time I run Client Ready Payroll Reports, I uncheck Create Comparison Reports...yet the Macro always runs the Creating Comparison Data. This absolutely slows the process and many times, Excel shuts down and I have to run the report again....many times.
Anyone else run into this issue?
Hello, shuaib95.
Running payroll reports ensure that you have a clear view on your client's payroll data. So, I'm here to help you fix the Client Ready Payroll Reports crashing issues.
Before anything else, let's ensure that QuickBooks is updated to the latest release. This ensure that we have the latest patches and hotfixes for certain issues like this.
If you're still getting the same issue with Excel, we can run the Tool Hub to fix the crashing issue. There might be some certain report components that cause Excel to crash during the report creation process.
To run the Tool Hub, download the latest version here: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.
Then, run the installer and install the program normally. After installing, run it then select the Program Problems option to start the repair process.
Although, the issue can also be attributed to an outdated or corrupted Excel copy. In which case, we can repair Excel to fix the issue.
Alternatively, we can also uninstall and reinstall Excel to fix this. We can visit Microsoft's support channels and articles for the steps if you need help.
More details about handling Excel issues can be found here: Fix export to Excel issues in QuickBooks Desktop.
After doing the steps, run the Client Ready Payroll Reports again.
When you've fixed the issue, do you need to reconcile your client's accounts in the future? We have an article to help you out: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have any other questions regarding your reports and other payroll-related issues, let me know. I'm always up and ready to help you out.
RE: If you're still getting the same issue with Excel, we can run the Tool Hub to fix the crashing issue. There might be some certain report components that cause Excel to crash during the report creation process.
That is not helpful or accurate. Tool Hub cannot fix crashes caused while running code in Excel, which are not caused by or impacted by the QuickBooks program.
I haven't seen this reported before. It might be data-specific (not that there is anything wrong with your data).
Does it happen no mater the date range you use? Does it happen when using all/different company files?
It happens across all companies. It also has happened across 2 different laptops.
I'm running Office 365 so the software is always up to date.
What's weird to me is why it is running the Creating Comparison Data when I uncheck the box for Cost Comparison.
I only run the report for the paycheck date period.
It seems, then, that the crash has something to do with the code in the report. Unless, that is, there is something in common with all your payroll data in your different company files that, somehow, other users don't commonly have.
Or, perhaps there is something different about the way QB Accountant Desktop 2022 returns the data, when compared to older QB versions.
Does the same thing happen if you try a sample data file? If you can make it happen in the sample data, then it's probably not related to your data. (Be sure to check the year/payroll dates for the payroll in the sample file and then match that when running the report.)
