Detail payroll report not up to date while doing payroll in Quick Book payroll.

After using Intuit online payroll I guess I am spoiled.   I liked to go into the detail report before I submittal payroll and view what i was about to submit.  But it seems that if you go into the detail payroll report in Quickbooks you can only see the last submitted payroll and not the current payroll you are working on.

Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Laura

Detail payroll report not up to date while doing payroll in Quick Book payroll.

Thanks for providing detailed information about your concern, @LDO. I'll help you preview the payroll before submitting it to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

You'll have the option to preview it while creating a paycheck in QBO Payroll. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Run payroll.
  2. Choose a pay schedule, then Continue.
  3. Select the employees you want to pay.
  4. Fill in the necessary information.
  5. Click Preview Payroll.
  6. Select Edit if there's a need to update.
  7. Once ready, click Submit payroll.

See these screenshots for a visual reference:

For more information about this process, see this article: Process or run payroll.

I'm adding this article for future reference about running payroll reports in QuickBooks Online: Run payroll reports. This will help you identify what specific report you're going to use to keep track of your books for payroll.

Additionally, here's an article you can read to learn more about customizing reports in QBO: Customize your reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else besides previewing your payroll in QBO Payroll. I'm more than happy to answer it for you. Have a great day!

Detail payroll report not up to date while doing payroll in Quick Book payroll.

Does your answer only let me view one employee at a time?

In Intuit Online Payroll I could go to payroll details or summary and view everyone at the same time. I could print everyone's current pre-submitted payroll with one glance.  I did not have to open individual people or look at individual checks,

Thanks
Laura

Thanks for coming back here, @LDO.

I'm joining in this thread to share some more insights about this payroll processing concern.

Yes, the steps shared by my colleague Kevin will let you preview payroll for each employee individually. This will help you ensure you're able to input the correct data before submitting payroll.

Unlike Intuit Online Payroll, QBO Payroll will only show the employee's payroll information once the paycheck is created. To learn more about running payroll reports and other tutorials, refer to this link:

Now that I figured it out myself  I see that Kevin did have the correct answer with photos,(just not words to explain it)

Here is the answer in English;   After creating payroll and before submitting there is a " preview payroll" link all the way down at the bottom  center of the page.  If you click the works a pdf looking report comes up.   Really clumsy compared to Intuit Online Payroll but it works.
