Thanks for getting back into this forum, MikeW3. You'll want to make sure the display name of the employee was also updated in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll add more details below.
The employee's display name is the name you choose to appear in your QuickBooks. Although you've edited the employee's last name, there's a great possibility that the original display name was retained. This explains why the name in QuickBooks Time (QB Time) hasn't changed. It's also worth noting that for staff imported from QBO, the option to modify this information directly in QB Time is currently unavailable.
With that said, here's how to change their display name in QBO:
- Click My apps, then Payroll.
- Choose Employees and locate the employee from the list.
- Select their name to visit their profile.
- Pick Edit under the Personal info section and update the Display name field.
- Hit Save.

To ensure the last name is synced accordingly, launch QB Time to verify. In the QuickBooks Sync Menu, select View Sync Log. If the change isn't reflected, choose Import.
