Buy nowNo direct deposit this morning. Per my quickbook payroll receipt it was processed at 9:20AM 08/29/2025(today). Previously it processed between 12AM and 2AM same day with 8AM update of being deposited. I believe this to be the reason why direct deposits were not available but it does have an indicator that it will be there by the end of day. I wish quickbooks would send out notices just like the receipts that there was a delay or error.
Hi MVFA,
There's been a delay in the notification when processing the payroll funds. However, there's no actual impact on the money movement, and the funds will be deposited soon.

We appreciate your patience regarding this issue.
There actually was a delay in the time of deposit. Our employees contacted me to understand what happened and where was the deposit. The deposits were made, but later than usual.
I have the same issue and would like more information as to why the direct deposits on being paid late on pay day. ADP payroll pays by 8am, sometimes earlier, why is QuickBooks now waiting until late morning or afternoon? Surely, they must know that the employees are going to want to know if they are receiving a paycheck that day or if there is an issue. How does a business properly handle the situation? Also the employee is checking their bank account all day instead of productive work! The employee is right to be concerned if we don't know if and when their deposit will be there.
I understand this can be concerning, especially when it comes to payroll, @KimAnnVA. There are possible reasons why this happens, and I'll explain them below.
One possible reason is the Lead Time or Processing Time. QuickBooks standard direct deposit lead times vary by product tier. For most users, the standard lead time is two banking days. Meaning you must submit and approve your payroll at least two banking days before the pay date (e.g., if you need to pay employees on a Friday, you would need to run payroll by Wednesday at a specific cutoff time).
Another one is the bank processing times. If you're employees have different banks, some banks might release the funds early in the morning, while others may not do it until later in the day, causing a delay for some employees even if everyone works for the same company.
Also, direct deposits are processed only on banking days. If payday falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the deposit is processed on the next banking day.
If the reasons mentioned earlier do not apply to your situation, I recommend contacting our Live Support team. They can review the details of your deposit, clarify whether it was held for review or delayed, and offer guidance on how to avoid similar issues in the future. Here's how:
