Does anyone else think QuickBooks is terrible?

I have been using Quickbooks online for the last 12 years. This year has been my worst experience in all 12 years. Everytime you log into the app, the menu changed, taxes are no longer accurate, federal payroll tax are now filed late, changes to reports, taking out needed info. There are too many issue to list. Last week I started evaluating other accounting and payroll solutions to get off of Quickbooks all together. I tried my best to get my points across to them, but could never nget past the 1st level support that does Google searches to try to solve issue with the Quickbooks Onli e because they have never even been trained.

I just type it in manually now like I used to do 20 years ago. As long as SS and Medicare numbers don't change, it's not that hard at all...just multiply gross salary to .062 and there is your number. For salaried employees it's a no-brainer because it's the same as last week so you don't even need to calculate anything. You just have to pay attention and type the numbers in the right spot.  Last year I paid almost $800 for "unlimited" enhanced payroll for just 3 employees and those greedy people wanted me to pay an extra $549 a year for just the software so they lost that $800 AND didn't get a penny more from me.

Only issue is that the software keeps nagging me to subscribe to payroll. I wish that'd go away.

I have been helping client with QB online version. I am so  used to the Desk top version of QB. I absolutely hate using QB online version. The functionality is awful. Very frustrating to use the online version.

I'm not happy either.  I feel they got too comfortable with their popularity and stopped improving.  They make changes regularly as a way to make it appear to be updating when in reality, there should be more options.  I looked for some way to print out a subcontractor job card (work order) out of an estimate.  They took that away somewhere down the line.  I have to create my own. Kind of defeats having software if you still have to create your own forms.  Anyone can create a simple spreadsheet for basic accounting but with the fees involved with some of the benefits, (like processing payments) and the complexity of the software itself, makes it difficult to maneuver through the processes for the average person. So many are paying to be certified as a new job field as they see the time and effort it takes to actually utilize QB to it's potential.  I pay an accountant already, I am not going to pay someone to also handle my everyday accounting because there isn't enough help with the program we already pay for. I realize it's more of a money grab than I originally thought.  Like buying that tool you need to make your job go faster but then you must also purchase accessories regularly in order to use said tool. And then, you need to try to keep up with how to use it as the accessories keep changing, as well. It's a vicious cycle.

Yea - we are switching this year. The support is copy and paste and the customer service knows nothing about accounting. TBH I have no idea how they still maintain a leading software but I can imagine it's only a matter of time.

What software are you switching too?  I just got the bogus expiration message yet again, and I'm just waiting for it to shut down again. How many hours can I spend on the phone with support about the same issue!!!!!!!!!!

You are using QB Desktop, correct?

What kind of bogus message did you get?

Have you checked your license status in CAMPS?

QB desktop.  My license is not expiring, and my credit card is up to date, This has been going on for a year. Last October, the message came up and my access to the software was revoked. To fix it, they made me upgrade to 2023, which was so new, it did not work with my integrations, and then they refused to sell me 2022! I've been calling support every 2 months or so for a year to try to make this go away for good, to no avail.

Just to be sure, can you log into your CAMPS and find that your license is still valid for more than 7 days?

Before you upgrade to QBD 2023, which year version of QB Desktop were you using? Your statement implies that before October 2022 you were running a version of QB Desktop Plus. I mean, you should be able to find the QBD 2022 license in your CAMPS. Another question is what kind of integration do you need? If you can install QB Desktop 2022 now, is it still relevant to solve your integration problems?

I was on QB 2018 or 2020 -- I don't recall. After Avalara finally got information from Intuit about 2023, they were able to upgrade their integration, and I upgraded to 2023. My integrations with Transaction Pro and Avalara are now working fine. I do not know what CAMPS means. I noticed that there was an upgrade of some sort to QB yesterday when I logged in. It introduced a new "bug" when I was trying to print, the print dialogue was not appearing, and the software abruptly shut down.

I'm tired of being an experiment to get this problem resolved -- I wish someone at Intuit had a solid answer that would make this problem go away once and for all. I would really like to turn off all updates to QB, so it can remain stable, but that option is "grayed out".

Consider to reinstall your QB program to isolate the issue.

Thanks for your time in trying to help.  I have been there, done that with every suggestion possible, including a new computer!!!!  This is the problem that won't go away.  I have had a very bad year with Intuit, including a very serious payroll issue that is still not completely resolved.  I'd really like to know if anyone that has left QB is happy with their new software, and what that software is.

I often recommend 3 cloud-based apps to our clients when they were considering switching from QB. To lower your conversion costs, I recommend starting from scratch. You will access your historical data on QB Desktop by using the trial version for good. Contact me in private for details.

YES!  Not ready for prime time.  Debit transactions go pending, then disappear, then two weeks later the funds are removed from your account.  Payments from clients are even worse.  You receive an email that an invoice has been paid with no real way of tracking or timing the deposit into your account.  Customer service involves long hold time and unfortunately language barriers.  Balances in your quickbooks are always conflicting.  What gives?  Quickbooks itself is a great bookkeeping program but their banking affiliation with Green Dot? Green Dot sells CHEAP banking services to Dollar Tree and Walmart customers via prepaid Debit Cards.  Business owners need REAL banks.

Just upgraded to 23  desktop enterprise two weeks ago.  Six hours after work with support to finally get it to work.  Now, for some reason we can't print monthly statements.  We are getting an error message stating we have too many customers. We never had an issue.  Called into support. They couldn't find anything wrong with what we were doing, checking the correct boxes, etc.  We were told and I quote, "that's just how it is.  You have to select your customers one by one to print a statement."  Really!!!  I know this is not correct.  My only luck is to call back and hope to get a more knowledgeable representative.

Yes! I filed an extension back in the spring and now have blown that deadline because quickbooks/turbotax are basically unusable.

I logged into my turbotax account and any attempt to start my taxes just sends me back to the purchase a plan page even though I already purchased a plan. So I upgrade hoping that works. Nope.

After spending an hour figuring that out it tells me I have to download the app to my desktop (I didn't have to do this last year but whatever). I click the link and it downloads a 2 year old version of the app. Another hour on the phone to tech support who can't figure it out. She emails me a direct link to a 2022 download. I don't get the emails. Another hour later I get all three emails at the same time (Obv not an Intuit problem but frustrating anyway.)

Now to import my info from Quickbooks self employed and get this done! Nope. No obvious way to import a years worth of receipts and invoices from QB to TT. Last year I had no problem. This year nothing works. Absolutely none of the online tutorials help either. It's now going on 2 weeks and all I have is my name and address entered.

I guess my options are to spend another day with tech support or manually enter a year's worth of invoices and receipts.

Thanks for nothing, Intuit

I will pray for you, because every time I have to deal with customer service, I want to scream some of the CSs know what they are doing and, the other half knows Jack. Never mind the time you spend hearing that horrible music, is priceless. I rather cut my wrist, than call for help, the tutorial was unbelievable. can make out Jack.

I'm getting this message again!  It keeps randomly cropping up no matter how many hours I spend with Support, and no matter how many things they have me try.  I got the software expiration message in October after one of the other QB Desktop users updated their software.  Now I am getting it again after the same situation.  Last time I spent a lot of time on the phone, they told me to uninstall and reinstall QB Desktop Pro.  I have, yet today I got the message again.  WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED?
