Join nowCan I edit the pay date on a payroll check after it has been "processed"? Checks are still hand written so this is just a clerical issue.
@tmach If this were Desktop, I would say yes, there would be no problem so long as the date on the physical paycheck matches what you have in QB.
The only potential issues would be if you've already paid the taxes for the period including the original paycheck date, or if the paycheck date fell in a Quarter you already filed payroll tax returns for.
In the latter case, you would need to at least amend the relevant payroll tax returns.
This being QBO, who knows? QBO is kind of a dumpster fire about the silliest things.
Editing pay date on your paycheck is essential for smooth payroll processing, tmach. At QuickBooks, we strive to ensure our customers have a smooth and seamless experience. Let me provide you with insights about this.
If the paycheck is direct deposit and is already processed or the paychecks were from the last quarter, you'll need to contact our Payroll Support team to change the pay period dates. This is necessary because taxes for these pay periods have already been filed.
Here's how:
1. Navigate to Help.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Enter a brief description of your concern.
4. Choose a way to connect with us: Start a chat or Let's talk.
Otherwise, if you're using a paper check, you can consider deleting and recreating the paycheck to change the pay period date.
You can check this article to run payroll reports that you can use to enter prior payroll: Learn about reports to use to enter prior payroll.
It's always a pleasure to assist you, tmach. You can always come back to this post if you have additional questions about editing or other related tasks. I'll be sure to be around to offer support and guide you throughout the process. Have a great rest of the week!
