Has anyone had their employees direct deposits changed to manual checks?

Hi there, Mike.

Allow me to share with you the information on how to address this issue regarding the sudden changes to payroll setup in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP).

The sudden change could be caused by incorrect account details imposed by the bank. In such cases, the receiving financial institution alerts Intuit about the issue, causing the system to switch payroll to paper checks instead of direct deposit.

Also, one of the possible scenarios is:

  • The bank account information has been changed or is no longer valid.
  • Compliance or verification issues with the bank or employee details.
  • Notifications in the product or via email about direct deposit approval failure.
  • System messages require the employee or contractor to fix their direct deposit information.

To have this check, I recommend contacting our Payroll Live Support team. They have the specialized tools to securely review your account and investigate the sudden change in payroll methods.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu or the (?) icon in the upper-right corner of QBO.
  2. Go to the Assistant tab.
  3. Type "contact support" in the chat box and press Enter.
  4. Provide a brief description of your concern and click Continue.
  5. Choose your preferred option: Have us call you or Chat.
