How can I manually make a 1099? (Quickbooks is overriding the payments via Paypal even though they were sent friends/family to avoid fees)

PayPal apparently will not report 1099's for fees sent via their friends option. So I need to send those out. But since these payments are already logged, I cannot manually create them as QBO thinks that these were PayPal transactions (which they technically were). I think this is a hole in the system. I would love to be shown how to manually create a 1099 inside QBO!

Hi there, @cbemusic.

et me help you in preparing 1099, so you can file them manually. I'll show you how:

  1. In the left menu, click Payroll and go to the Contractors tab.
  2. Tap Prepare 1099s then, Let's get started.
  3. Check your company nameaddress, and tax ID to ensure it matches on tax notices or letters from the IRS.
  4. Choose the boxes that represent the type of payments made to all of your contractors this year, then click Next.
  5. Verify that all of your contractors show up and their personal info and email addresses are correct.
  6. Review the payment totals for each box you selected in step 4. The payments will be automatically separated between the 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms. Select Next.
  7. Choose I’ll file myself to print.

To print your 1099 forms, continue with the steps below:

  1. Pick the type of form you are printing.
  2. Check if the forms align properly by selecting Print sample on blank paper. If it looks good, choose Yes, looks good! If the alignment is not correct, choose No, it doesn't line up and follow the on-screen instructions to fix your alignment, then select Next.
  3. Confirm the form you want to print.
  4. Click View selected 1099 contractors to confirm your contractors.
  5. Select Print on 1099 forms then Print to complete your printing.
  6. When complete, select Next.
  7. Click Done.
