How do I tell QuickBooks I don't have to pay MN Unemployment Taxes?

Hello dear, kate22.

To sort this out, we can go to the Payroll Settings and change the rate to zero. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Payroll Settings under Your Company.
  3. Under Taxes select State Taxes -MN.

Also, we'll need to uncheck the MN in the employee set up. Here are the steps on how you can do it:

  1. From the left panel, click Workers.
  2. Select the Employees tab and click the Edit icon next to Pay.
  3. In the second box, click the Edit icon and uncheck MN under Tax exemptions.

How do I tell QuickBooks I don't have to pay MN Unemployment Taxes?

Hi,

I went to the Employees tab, but I don't see an Edit icon or indeed, the word Pay, separately, on the page anywhere. Can you please clarify? Is there another way to get to this? It's not clear.

Thank you!

Hello, @kate22. Thanks for your response.

No worries, I'm here to explain how you can edit your Employee's information. Here's how:

  1. Go to Workers on the left-hand menu, then Employees.

       4. Locate Section 2: What are [employee]'s withholdings? then hit the pencil icon. This is where you can edit their tax information.

That's all there's to it!
