Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your transition to Online Payroll, @sonomagirl.  I understand the importance of ensuring accuracy in your payroll history setup, and we're here to assist you so you can continue running payroll.

Are you converting from QuickBooks Desktop Payroll to QuickBooks Online Payroll? If yes, allow me to provide you with additional information regarding the conversion process.

When you undertake the conversion from QBDT Payroll to QBOP, it's important to note that certain payroll information may not transfer due to the differing features of the two platforms. Here are some key considerations:

  • Payroll item breakdown and employee year-to-date numbers: While most payroll data will be transferred, it's possible that some specific breakdowns of payroll items and year-to-date numbers for employees may not carry over seamlessly.
  • Liability refunds, adjustment transactions, and opening balance transactions: These types of transactions that impact accounts in QBDT Payroll will be converted into journal entries in QBOP. This ensures that the financial records remain accurate and consistent.
  • Current year's paycheck information: QBOP will import the current year's paycheck information as lump sums, simplifying the transition process.

For more detailed information on what to expect when switching from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, I recommend referring to this article: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

To address any discrepancies in the Social Security (SS) and Medicare amounts, it is necessary to complete the QBOP setup carefully. This will ensure that the deduction figures for both SS and Medicare match accurately.

However, if you still need to make an adjustment, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Payroll Support Team to request a correction as QuickBooks Online doesn't have this feature, unlike QuickBooks Desktop. Be sure to contact them within their business hours to get assistance right away.

Furthermore, I would be happy to provide you with a reference that'll assist you in examining your business' financial situation more closely by generating and printing our available payroll reports: Run payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance in handling your SS and Medicare difference,  please don't hesitate to reach out to our Community team. We're here to help you every step of the way. We value your business and look forward to providing you with a seamless experience as you continue to use our Online Payroll service. Have a great day.
