I have Quickbooks 2019 desktop and a payroll subscription that ends in February 2023. BUT I can't run my 2nd quarter payroll reports because everything QB's decided to discontinue my ability to do anything 5/22.
SO, essentially Quickbooks is FORCING me to go to a subscription model which is infuriating.
What I want to know is - if I upgrade to an online subscription, will my payroll still work? And also - I would appreciate the same interface I'm used to - Quickbooks Online is foreign to me. I would need the Desktop Online version. Would I be able to download bank account transactions on this without having to use Internet Explorer?
Finally - if ANYONE has found another Acctg Software besides Quickbooks - I would love to hear about it and give them my business. What Intuit is doing with this forced subscription model is akin to a hostile takeover. It's wrong.
Thanks in advance for any answers here?
QuickBooks Desktop 2022 is probably your best option. It'll upgrade your company file and your payroll subscription and all your data so you can continue use uninterrupted. 2022 is based on a subscription, as you note, but other than squeezing a little more money out of you (for those that didn't previously upgrade each year anyway) your experience using it will be much the same as 2019, and so it's the least disruptive choice.
Amazon has it for $249, and after purchase you can download and install it in a few minutes (if all goes right):

I know there are two versions, correct? A ONE-time payment for Quickbooks Desktop Online OR an Annual Subscription. I think there are two different prices, correct? The Amazon link you sent, is that the one-time or the annual subscription?
RE: I know there are two versions, correct?
There are several SKU's, such as one including payroll and one for two users.

I have never heard of QuickBooks Desktop Online. That sounds like an oxymoron do me. There is Desktop and there is Online. Two totally different programs that share only the name QuickBooks.
I think QuickBooks Desktop is now only available as a subscription. Online has always been a subscription.
