I just noticed that QB didn't deduct any federal taxes from one of my employees checks. They now owe thousands to the IRS when they would normally receive a refund. Why?

This person has two dependents and is head of household. They selected that on the new W-4 that was put out in 2020 and now owes the IRS. This employee even got a big raise and still QB didn't deduct anything. Why is this happening and how do we get this changed so they get a refund?

Hello there, croyce.

Let's verify your employees profile and check to see their tax deductions. Let me guide you how:

  1. From the Payroll tab, select Employees.
  2. Select the employee's name.
  3. Click the edit (pencil) icon under Pay.
  4. Verify their deductions under Does (employee's name) have any deductions? field.

If everything's correct, I'd suggest reaching out to our Payroll Support team so we can investigate this further.

I'll be around whenever help is needed. Keep safe!

Hello,

I have looked and double checked all of that and it's correct. The payroll team is unavailable to chat. We use QB to process and calculate payroll, however, we pay our payroll through our bank, not QB. Is there a phone number to the payroll team?
