Since you've already run your payroll and have created paychecks, changing your historical payroll information from this public forum is inapplicable. I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team to help you assist with any changes on your payroll history and provide you with further steps to get things resolved. Also, they have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.

 

Here's how to reach them: 

 

  1. On your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, go to the Help icon and select Contact Us.
  2. Enter your concern, and click Let's talk.
  3. Start a chat with a support expert.

I need to change payroll history after I've run payroll

I'm a new customer to QB payroll and skipped the enter payroll history step at setup.  Why is that now locked to me?  That doesn't make any sense that we have to jump through hoops to enter data into our own account.  This is only a barrier to getting my tasks done as now I have to take time away from work to find a customer service person and get it taken care of.  My previous payroll vendor made this very, very easy.

If you have already run payroll in QuickBooks Payroll, the option to input payroll history is automatically locked. This is because QuickBooks bases its calculations on Year-to-Date (YTD) data to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations. 

 

If you need to enter prior payroll information, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Payroll Support team for further assistance. Our support representatives have the tools and expertise to enter your prior payroll data on your behalf, ensuring accuracy and making sure everything is properly recorded.

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company, then go to Help (?).
  2. Click on Search, then Contact Us.
  3. Select a Payroll as a topic.
