Hi @userddimaria,

Welcome to the Community. I can help you fix a payroll posting to the incorrect account.

The ability to transfer paychecks directly to another bank account is unavailable. As a workaround, you can add the payroll checks manually as journal entries.

You can either merge all of the employees' paycheck totals into a single journal entry or create a separate transaction for each of them.

Before you start, I recommend seeking expert advice from an accountant to determine the right accounts and transfer amounts from the incorrect account. They can help ensure your books are accurate and correct.

Here's how to create a journal entry:

  1. Click + New on the left panel.
  2. Select Journal Entry.
  3. Under the Journal date, enter the paycheck date.

Also, please go to your payroll setting to correct the setup. This way, your future payroll will post to the correct account.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Select Accounting Preferences.
  4. In the Checking Account drop-down arrow, select the correct account.

Hello there.

I'll guide you through the steps of transferring a check to another account. In your case, you can record the by transferring its funds. This way, you move the money. For details, open this article: Transfer funds between accounts.

I see that you've posted the same question, and the other one was already answered by my colleague. Just in case you haven't been notified of the new response, here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/check-cleared-out-of-wrong-...

Stay in touch with me if you need a hand with managing your accounts in QuickBooks. I'm always around to assist you.

I appreciate your help but that does not answer my question. I need to move a check that has already cleared to another bank account.

Thanks for getting back, @DIETRYING.

If you want to create a journal entry to transfer the amount to the correct account, I'd be happy to assist with that. Here's how:

  1. Select + New and click Journal entry.
  2. On the first line, select an account where you want to move the funds to the Account drop-down list. Then, enter the amount in the Debits section.
  3. On the next line, select the other account you're moving money from. Enter same the amount in the Credits field.
  4. Check the amounts - you should have the same amount in the Credit column on one line and the Debit column on the other. This means the accounts are in balance.
  5. Enter information in the memo section so you know why you made the journal entry.
  6. Click Save and close.

Also, you can check out this article for other methods of moving your funds from one account to another: Transfer funds between accounts.

Do you have any other questions or concerns in mind? Just leave them below, and I'll get back as quickly as I can to provide answers. Stay safe and have a great rest of the weekend!
