I use 2 separate accounts to process payroll. Desktop allowed me to switch accounts to pay from different accounts, not seeing this with the on-line version

Welcome to QBO, where you can't do much of anything that you could do in Desktop, and it's always broken in some random way.  (It's ridiculous, really).

I can share some information about running payroll using different accounts in QuickBooks Online, @RS5571.

At this time, the option to switch payroll accounts in QuickBooks Online is unavailable. However, we appreciate your suggestion and would like to let you know that we have taken note of it. To provide feedback to help us improve our services.

Here are the steps to do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Provide your product suggestion.
  3. Click on Next to submit feedback.

For more information on how to provide feedback, you can check out this article: How do I submit feedback?. Also, I've attached a link you can visit to stay up-to-date with the latest news and features in QuickBooks: QuickBooks News & Updates.

You can also run reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll to check for employee info, wages, taxes, deductions, and many more: Run payroll reports

Let me know if you need more information with running your reports. I'm always here to answer them for you. Have a great rest of the day!

QuickBooks Online must have fired everyone who built Desktop and replaced them with software engineers that have no idea about payroll and accounting because it can only do about 10% of what Desktop could.  It's not functional.  Good luck to you, from one of the many disgruntled QB users who were forced from Desktop to the catastrophe that is QBO.
