IMRF contributions all of a sudden showing up as part of gross wages

The final pay period in 2023 IMRF company contributions were added to gross wages. The rest of the year there was no problem. It just started on the last pay period. This makes my unemployment form incorrect.

I'm here to ensure company contributions are calculated appropriately, Darlene. I'll provide some troubleshooting to help keep your unemployment form correct.

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, company contributions are handled separately. Hence, they are not included in gross or net pay.

In your case, let's check your IMRF contributions setup. It can be that there have been changes that caused company contributions to be added to gross wages.

Here's how:

  1. Click Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Locate and select the employee from the list.
  3. Head to the Deductions and Contributions section and pick Edit.
  4. Look for the IMRF contribution and click the Pencil icon.
  5. Ensure it's set up accordingly and perform updates if necessary.
  6. Select Save, then Done.

However, if there have been no changes to your setup, I recommend contacting our payroll support team. They have the tools and expertise to assist you thoroughly in correcting the posting of your company contribution.

On the other hand, consider generating and customizing different payroll reports to get valuable insights from your business and employees. It allows you to review employee info, wages, taxes, and deductions that help you gain a narrow understanding of your finances.

IMRF contributions all of a sudden showing up as part of gross wages

Christine,

Thank you for your recommendation. I contacted the Quickbooks Online Payroll Support and I was on the phone with them for a few hours and they suggested I call a tax expert. I asked them to look at my contributions/deductions to see if anything jumped out at them as being set up wrong. They told me they didn't see anything but I could have it set up wrong.
