From the Employees tab in QBO, (https://qbo.intuit.com/app/employees) I can get a list of active or inactive or all employees. From this list, when I click on a specific employee I'm taken to "their" web page where I can do things like edit status, pay rates, whatever.
The URL of that employee page is in the format:
https://qbo.intuit.com/app/employeeProfile?eeid=01820000-jjjj-kkkk-llll-mmmmmmmmmm
I would like a way to automatically collect each of the unique "eeid" values for all of my employees. We are a very seasonal business and as such we are often activating or inactivating large numbers of employees on a regular basis. Having these URLs available without individually clicking through every employee from the main "employees" page would save a substantial amount of time.
I can walk you through collecting your employees' identification numbers in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @tu_ultimate. This way, you can have them collated in one list for healthier database records.
To begin, we can run an Employee Contact Lists report and customize it according to the data we need from them. Thus, we can personalize this to display the Employee Identification Number (EEID) and have them at one glance. You can perform the steps below to begin:
Moreover, you can produce a copy of these reports by exporting them into an Excel file. To do so, you can refer to the complete guidelines outlined in this article: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the reply but this isn't quite what I was looking for. The instructions you provided will show a report with the "Employee ID" that is set up in the employee's user profile by the user. At our company we do NOT have "company employee IDs" set up. I'm looking specifically for the employee ID that quickbooks uses internally in its own database -- if I was going to set up internal ID's it would be maybe a few digits long, not the dozens and dozens of alphanumeric digits that go into the "eeid" field that is used for the employee URL.
Hopefully that distinction makes sense?
We appreciate you reverting to this thread to clarify your concern, tu_ultimate.
QuickBooks will auto-generate a unique ID for your employees. However, the option to automatically collect these IDs so you'll no longer click each employee to update their status is currently unavailable. In the meantime, you'll need to visit each employee's profile to reactivate and deactivate them.
I acknowledge how this can help you manage your employees seamlessly. Hence, I recommend sending feedback directly to our product development team. Your comments and suggestions might be integrated into future product updates, ensuring they meet different business needs.
