Join nowWe use Quickbooks 2019 and have multi-users logging in at any given time. Yesterday one of the employees was processing payroll and noticed a change in a few employees federal taxes. After doing some research we noticed that those were new employees and when we went in to their employee set up we noticed that they had reverted back to the before 2020 W4 option. However when I logged in to investigate more under my log in, the employees set up is still showing as 2021 and after. It is the same data file so that should not be an issue. I ran payroll again under my log in and the taxes had reverted back to what they were previously (2020 or after) however the employee who normally processes payroll is showing those employees as before 2020 and it calculates a higher tax. Again it was only on the ones who are newer employees hired with the new W4s. She logs in using Quickbooks Pro and I log in using Quickbooks Accountant Desktop. We are a CPA firm. I have never seen anything like that and don't know how to go about correcting. Tried getting support but have not received much help.
Hello dianem57,
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! There are a few questions I would like for you to answer so I can pinpoint the problem.
In the event you are accessing the same file, I suggest that we check for data damage. You can do this by using the rebuild and verify tools in your program. This article is an excellent resource to guide you in doing this.
I will be looking out to your response. Until then, take care and be safe.
Thanks for your response. Yes - we are accessing the same file. That was the first thing we checked. When we realized the problem, we did rebuild the data and there was no change. We received error codes 179 and 180. So far we only noticed the difference in payroll and with these 4 newer employees. We had paid them previously at a lower federal withholding but noticed a significant increase this pay and that is what alerted us to the issue.
I'm here to lend a hand with the Error you've encounter in QuickBooks Desktop, dianem57.
