Local Taxes Indiana

QBO is calculating a 1.048% local tax for Floyd county.  It should be 1.15%.  How can I correct this?

Local Taxes Indiana

Hi there, @KHanen.

Welcome to the Community. To clarify, when you select the local taxes based on the worksite and residence, our system will run the local taxes through our tax engine and accurately withhold the correct ones.

Hence, any wage threshold, rates, and city/county alerts are automatically handled by our system.

To correct this, I'd recommend you check your local tax jurisdiction set up in the Payroll Settings page. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Settings menu, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Under Taxes column, select Local Tax Jurisdictions
  3. Review the County. Click Edit to make changes, then OK.

You can also contact our Payroll Support team to help you verify why it's calculating incorrectly in case the issue persists.

For additional insights, read though this article: Local tax setup and support: Indiana. It has a step-by-step guide on how to edit your employees' local taxes case you'll need to in the future.
