Need to give employee a raise - increase hourly rate?

Great day, @stevie_tutor.

Thanks for coming to the Community. I can guide you in updating your employee's hourly pay rate.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  2. Click the employee's name, then Edit employee.
  3. Under How much do you pay this employee?, then select the edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Select Add an hourly rate, then add a description and enter a dollar amount for the new hourly rate.
  5. Click Done.

You can also add as many as 8 different hourly rates for your employee. Check out this article to learn more: Pay an employee different hourly rates.

I also got you this article in case you'll need some easy steps to add deductions or contributions for your employees. Read through this article for more insights: Add or edit deductions or contributions

Come again and post some more if you have additional concerns. I'm always around to be your QuickBooks guide.

Need to give employee a raise - increase hourly rate?

Hi Kathryn, I was following an earlier thread and you said to go to employee, edit, how much do you pay ..... . I am in Australia and there has been an award payrise and I cant find "Edit" as an option. I open the employee and go to pay rates but I have to use the "override" option which doesnt like how to do a permanent change. Any clues?

Need to give employee a raise - increase hourly rate?

Hi there Derussie,

Thanks for coming to community, I also reside in Australia and here are some instructions on "How to update employee pay rates" to help our fellow Aussies. Here are some of the simplified steps but please check out the article for more comprehensive instructions.

  1. Select Employees from the left menu.
  2. Select the employee's name, then select Pay Rates from the left menu.
  3. You will be presented with a list pay categories. Select the field under the Rate column next to the pay rate you want to update and enter the new pay rate.
  4. Navigate to the bottom of the page and select Save.

Please give it a go, and if you hit any issues, comment here, or feel free to contact our support team who are always here to help.

Need to give employee a raise - increase hourly rate?

I currently use QuickBooks desktop and I increased the hourly rate for my employees, but the increase didn't appear on their most recent paycheck. What must I do to get this increase to appear on their paycheck, because they are currently getting paid the previous hourly rate and not the current increase?
