Have had this issue happen on and off very sporadically for the last year. Each time the export shortcut magically reappears on its own on the main landing page. The shortcut just disappeared again. While searching some old threads I stumbled onto something that worked for me. Logged into the QBO payroll file (missing the export shortcut on the main landing page). Then open a duplicate tab in the same browser and pasted in the following link..
https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/payroll/export-center
Once the page loaded I was able to export QBO Payroll transaction into a stand alone QBO accounting file as was the case in the past when the "export" shortcut was showing in my QBO payroll file.
I have now saved the link above and a bookmark.
Hope this helps.
try opening the following link the next time you are logged into yoru QBO payroll file

I understand the critical importance of accurate payroll data, especially for operational and reporting purposes, Martha10. I'm here to assist in resolving this matter.
Let's begin by running QuickBooks with administrator privileges to enable access to system resources that might otherwise be limited. I'll show you how:
Next, ensure QuickBooks is updated to the latest release to access the recent features and fixes.
Afterward, download and install the most recent tax table to ensure compliance with paycheck calculations. Follow the steps below:
Following that, verify your system's time and date settings. If they are incorrect, make sure to update them. If the error continues, configure your Windows firewall and security settings for QuickBooks Desktop.
Once done, verify if the paychecks show. Then, run payroll for this week.
Lastly, QuickBooks Desktop offers various payroll and employee reports

I am contemplating reaching out to Quickbooks Desktop to convert my quickbooks online so I can import our payroll through an iif file then bringing the file back to Quickbooks online. So frustrated
You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to convert data from QB Online.
I understand the frustration you're going through. Rest assured, I'm here to share information about QuickBooks Online import capabilities.
To begin with, after you export your payroll from QuickBooks Desktop as an IFF, we can convert it to a CSV file before importing it to QuickBooks Online. You can search for a file converter online that you can utilize, or you can look for a converter tool in QuickBooks App Market or select the Apps menu within your QBO.
Another option is to enter the year-to-date paycheck information. Feel free to check out these articles for further reference:
Additionally, you can also manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.

The issue has been ongoing for me for 6 months. I have spent countless hours on the phone with support. How do we know anyone is even working on this? We continue to be charged for a stand-alone payroll account ever since having to set up a new company since forced transitioning from intuit payroll that doesn't work the way that it should. This is completely unacceptable. I am to the point where I am getting ready to find a different payroll alternative. What is the point of using Quickbooks if there is no case of use with our current QBO accounts?
I have been around the block with quickbooks. I even received an email that the problem is fixed. It's not.
Since the import hangs up, the quickbooks team even mentioned I need a newer computer to import.
Sometimes, the payroll import is successful but the data never reaches the online quickbooks.
I am well aware of how impacting it is on your business, Donna. No worries. I'll ensure to route you to the appropriate support.
If you convert data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), payroll data or transactions are moved to QBO as regular Checks. That said, you need to record the payroll transactions.
However, the enter prior payroll option is no longer available in QBO. In that case, I suggest contacting our payroll support team to enter the adjustments to correct the payroll data.

That is what is happening to me now. It says the export was successful but the data never reached my QBO account. I am beyond frustrated, we pay for these services so that they are more convenient, not cause us more work. They tried to tell me over the phone that I can just manually input all of the information in from the payroll account to the QBO account. What is the point of paying them for software that doesn't work?

It appears since I tried to import multiple times, I have multiple paychecks for the same employee, same date, same amount and same pay period. Probably due to this, I am blocked.
