Our company is agricultural and not required to pay FUTA or SUTA. How can I reflect this in Quickbooks so it stops calculating those taxes?

Thanks for visiting us today, @janeh0518.

I'll share the steps on how you can exempt your FUTA and SUTA  in QuickBooks. Let's go to your employee profile to see it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll tab, then select Employees.
  2. Choose the employee's name, then hit the Pay pencil icon.
  3. Pick the What are (employee's name) withholdings? pencil icon.
  4. Scroll down towards Tax exemptions, then mark the FUTA and SUTA boxes.
  5. Click Done. See sample image below.

After setting up, QBO will no longer calculate these taxes when running payroll. You might also want to visit the IRS website for more details about the instructions of your 943 tax form: Instructions for Form 943.

Thank you for the assistance, however, when I click on Tax Exemptions, I do not have any options.  The message says to contact a payroll specialist to set up exemptions for this employee.  I am not sure how to contact someone for further assistance.

But yet your Core, Premium, and Elite support personnel have NO IDEA how to help with this problem. I have spent a cumulative of 4 hours on support calls to date trying to get help with this issue. The first support person tried for 3 hours and then hung up on my without escalating the issue to softwate engineers. I am currently in the second hour of holding and still cannot get escalated to the next level.

You do not understand how your product works. It is ridiculous to not have this basic functionality available to all levels of Payroll subscription. Shame on you all.
