Payroll Changes in July Update to QB Enterprise Contractor

I am having this issue and have talked with multiple people who end up acting like they can't hear me after an hour long conversation and hang up on me. No one at Intuit has a solution for this. They need to take back this change fast before the end of the year. I won't even be able to update salary amounts because of this new bug. Very frustrating! And I have no idea what to do now.

Payroll Changes in July Update to QB Enterprise Contractor

Hi there, Marissa.

I recognize your sentiments about duplicating employees in multiple states. While QuickBooks no longer allows two employees with the same SSN, I can help share a workaround so you can get back to business.

When an employee works in multiple states, you will have to generate a separate paycheck each time and toggle or change the state worked and SUI details accordingly.

Additionally, you can check out this article that enables you to manage payroll taxes and effortlessly monitor employee expenses: Run payroll reports.

You can always reply in the comments below if you need further assistance on this matter. I'll be right here, willing to help at any time.

Try making the current employee ID inactive while creating the additional ID for a different state. Once that is done, go back and re-activate the initial employee ID.  You should now have both ID's.

No, these employees do not work in different states.

I appreciate you clarifying, @marissah

With the recent payroll update in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we're unable to duplicate an employee with the same Social Security Number (SSN). I can see the importance of this ability to ensure accuracy in your financial records. Let me make it up to you by helping you share this valuable feedback with our software engineers so they can review and consider your suggestion in our future product updates. To do that:

  1. Go to Help and click Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your feature request, then Send Feedback.

Additionally, I'll share these articles to guide you in preparing and printing your payroll tax forms and payments in QBDT:

Please don't hesitate to swing by the Community whenever you have further concerns about entering employee information in QBDT. I'm always ready to assist. Take care, and have a good one.
