Hi there, @linajanehayden. I'm here to help you access your client's previous payroll registers. Let's work together to get this done right away.
To do so, you can ask your client for a copy of previous payroll registers by exporting the data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Here's how:
- In the QBDT account, open the company file and select the Company tab.
- Scroll down and select Chart of Account.
-
- From there, choose the Account used for payroll data.
- Then, Right-click and choose QuickReport:[Name of the Account].
- Once opened, select the Excel drop-down and choose Create new worksheet.
- Click the Export button.
They can also create a summarized payroll data report and export it using Excel, check out this link for the detailed steps: Export payroll data.
Since they are not using a Payroll service, they can manually enter payroll paychecks to QuickBooks Online (QBO) via journal entry. Please visit this article for the instructions: Manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.
I've also attached this helpful resource that you can open to have additional guidance in navigating the QBO program: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.
Please post again here if you have any other concerns about accessing payroll data in QBO. I'm always here ready to lend a hand. Have a good one and take care.
