Payroll Subscription

Hello!

I have an extra physical copy of Quickbooks Desktop Premier Plus 2021 with Payroll Enhanced included. I am currently running Desktop Pro 2020 with Payroll Enhanced. I don't want to install the Premier Plus 2021. Can I use the Payroll Enhanced from the Premium 2021 to extend my Payroll Enhanced on the Desktop Pro 2020? It is expiring soon and I would hate to see it go to waste...

Let me provide to you a few information about payroll subscription, ADeVille,

To use payroll, you'll have to register it first before you can activate payroll. For now, the option to use your Payroll Enhanced on QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 is unavailable. You'll just have to use the Premier Plus 2021 with your payroll. For more information about the process and set up, I've added this article for your guide: Get Started With QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Thanks for the response, MariaSoledadG.

That doesn't exactly answer my question, though. I currently have Payroll Enhanced that is already activated on my Desktop Pro 2020. What I want to know is if I can use the Payroll Enhanced subscription license from the Desktop Premier Plus 2021 with Payroll Enhanced to Renew My Current Payroll Enhanced without installing the Desktop Premier Plus 2021.

Thanks!

Payroll Subscription

Thanks for getting back to us in Community, @ADeVille. I’ll be glad to assist you in sorting this issue out so you’ll be able to use your payroll subscription in QuickBooks Desktop.

When you purchase a QuickBooks Desktop Payroll subscription, a 16-digit service key is provided to you that is specific to your EIN and payroll service. That said, you’ll enter this key into your QBDT to use the payroll features.

Here’s how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Select Employees, then Payroll, and then select Enter Payroll Service Key (or Manage Payroll Service key if you have a different payroll subscription).
  3. Select Add (or Edit if a payroll service is already listed, then Remove payroll service key in QuickBooks Desktop before the next step).
  4. Enter your service key
  5. Select Next, and then Finish
  6. When the Payroll Update message appears, select OK
  7. Verify your payroll service status is Active, and then select OK

If you didn’t receive your service key, please check your junk or spam folder, or use our automated Service Key Retrieval tool and sign in using your Intuit Account login.
