QBO - Cannot find the Payroll Export so I can import into Desktop. Export option missing?

I have Quickbooks Online and am moving back to Desktop because I cannot import business tax info.  I did the export data but none of the Payroll information was exported.  How do I get the Payroll info from 2022?

I checked online and there is no Export option under Payroll Shortcuts.  And when I go to Gear / Payroll Settings, there is no Export option either.

Where do I go next?

QBO - Cannot find the Payroll Export so I can import into Desktop. Export option missing?

Thank you for choosing our product as part of your business and adding your first post to this forum, Johnny. I appreciate your steps in trying to bring your payroll data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I'm here to give you the best service by helping you transfer them successfully.

Congratulations on exporting your data to QBDT. Since payroll entries were not added, I recommend performing extra steps to narrow down the result. First, make sure to open QuickBooks Online (QBO) as an admin to avoid possible restrictions which hinder you to get the Export option for payroll. When you're ready, set up your preferences in your payroll account. I want you to know that this is only available for Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite standalone versions.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then click on Payroll Settings.
  2. Tap on Edit in the Export section.

  3. Choose your accounting software, then Continue.
  4. QuickBooks will create default accounts for your wages, expenses, and liabilities. Select Edit ✎ to modify these accounts as it appears on your QuickBooks chart of accounts.
  5. When complete, select Done twice.

Once done, you're now ready to move your payroll transactions.

If you had the enhanced payroll or the payroll bundle subcription, this option is unavailable on your end. The good news is that you can export your QBO payroll data or reports to Excel, then import them to QBDT manually. You can review these articles as your guide:

On the other hand, I'm also adding these materials for more hints while working with your payroll entries in QBDT:
