Quickbooks Full Service Payroll - Linked Chart of Accounts in settings NOT WORKING! FORCED TO QUICKBOOKS CHECKING!

Ran Payroll this weekend and noticed that while it had the correct current funding account (Let's just call it Business Checking)...it recorded my checks in the register for my QUICKBOOKS CHECKING account instead of in my "Business Checking" as it should.  Called support and they're trying to tell me this is by design now and the way it will work.  WTH? This has to be a JOKE, right?  Currently in the process of trying to get a supervisor involved.  Allowing me to fund payroll from wherever I'd like but forcing me to record it in a specific register makes ZERO SENSE!!! Is anyone else having this issue, I have to believe I'm being given bad information.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, RidinDirty.

You can change your default bank account used for recording payroll checks from the Payroll settings screen.

Here's how:

  1. Use your Gear () icon.
  2. Go to Payroll settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Accounting section.
  4. Click its Pencil () icon.
  5. Specify which account you want each type of payroll transaction mapped to.
  6. If changes were made, save them.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with payroll which may come in handy moving forward: Create & run your payroll

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful day!

Quickbooks Full Service Payroll - Linked Chart of Accounts in settings NOT WORKING! FORCED TO QUICKBOOKS CHECKING!

ZackE,
Thanks for the reply...BUT THIS DOES NOT WORK! I'm familiar with the setting you outlined below and confirmed it with Quicken Support this morning.  I have the Correct bank information set there, however, QuickBooks is ignoring this setting and forcing it to QUICKBOOKS CHECKING.  Support reached out to IT and she advised that this is an intended change and how it will work moving forward.  This answer defies logic, and I can't believe its true, but it's what I was told.

I also get constantly booted to some mysterious "Business Checking" account even though I've tried to reassign the direct deposit funding account to my bank's, I've tried deleting "Business Checking" only to have QBO create it again when I try to run payroll.

It's sad that Intuit has such a monopoly on this software. Or it would at least be nice if they had some sort of support channel that could figure out when someone is actually reporting a bug.
