Quickbooks Payroll Online will not let me edit a contractor's email address. How do I change it?

Welcome to the Community, maryl. I'm happy to assist with making changes to your contractor's personal information in QuickBooks Online.

We can update the email address of your contractor in the Vendors tab, as adjustments are made in the Vendor tab it will be mirrored in the Contractor tab.

Here's how:

1. Go to Expenses and then select Vendors.
2. Click the contractor's name.
3. Select Edit.
4. You can now update the email address.
5. Click Save.

Thank you for your quick response. However, when I log into my Quickbooks payroll online I cannot find an "Expenses" tab or subsequent "Vendors" tab.  I believe we are using an abbreviated version that was originally Intuit Online payroll. Attached is a screenshot of my overview page.

Normally, you can easily edit a contractor's email address in their profile. However, if you were unable to do so, I'd like to know if you encountered any error messages while trying to make the changes. If you did, please let me know what specific error message you received. This information will help me identify the issue and provide you with a tailored solution to your concern.

In the meantime, let's perform browser troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue, as it could be an issue related to your browser.

To begin, let's access your account through your browser's incognito mode, which will prevent your browsing history from being saved. Here are the keyboard shortcuts based on your browser:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Safari: Command + Shift + N

Alternatively, you can clear the browser's cache to eliminate common errors that may hinder the application from working properly. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with a clean slate. You can also use other supported browsers to see if the issue persists.

This process also does not work for me, and there are no messages that pop up beforehand. When I follow the above instructions, I am able to edit my contractor's mailing address but their email appears in a muted font and is not accessible.

Let me share some information about editing the contractor's email in the program, Teacher Brittany.

If a contractor was added through invitation, the ability to edit their email address is unavailable. You can have them visit https://accounts.intuit.com to update it. Let me guide you on how:

1. Go to https://accounts.intuit.com/, then proceed to the Sign In & Security part.
2. Click the Edit link beside the Email address. and enter the correct information.
3. Once done, hit Save.

On the other hand, if you're the one who enters the contractor's information in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you should be able to edit his/her email. To better isolate this issue, try logging into your QBO using a private browser (incognito) and follow the steps provided by my colleague above. Once signed in, go back and change their email address.

If the problem persists, I recommend contacting our Customer support team as they have the tools to pull up your account to determine the root of why you're unable to input the email address on your end. To reach our Customer Support, here's how: 

1. Select Help (?) at the top right.
2. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
3. Enter the questions briefly.
4. Click Let's talk.
5. Choose a way to connect with us. Start a chat or Get a call back.
