Quickbooks POS and enterprise connection - server only things?

We have QB POS setup for the employees to clock in and out of as well as to do sales, and then that needs to get transferred over to QB enterprise to do our payroll.

We recently setup a separate server machine to host all of our QB databases. It was originally just hosted on the accountant's PC.

My issue, is it seems someone has to log onto the server to do the POS to QB update/sync on a "server" session. Is there a way to automate that, or allow a client session to do the sync?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Quickbooks POS and enterprise connection - server only things?

Let me provide you with some information about QuickBooks POS and Enterprise connection, pleaseheIplol1234.

Normally, logging into the QuickBooks server whether it's POS or Enterprise to do the update or sync is done manually. You'll want to contact your server provider to check if you're able to do them automatically.

In connection to this, here's how you can set up users and restrictions to access your server manually. I've added this article for more information: QuickBooks Desktop Users and Restrictions. Additionally, you may experience issues with POS when connecting to the server. Go through this article for your guide: Troubleshoot Multi-User Issues In Point of Sale.

Quickbooks POS and enterprise connection - server only things?

It is our server, in house. And by server, I mean an actual Windows Server OS running the company wide server functions (i.e. DDNS, file server, etc...)

It is just odd to let a general user onto an actual server, from an IT perspective.

Is there a way to script the sync between the two?

Welcome back, pleaseheIplol1234.

I can provide further details regarding permitting other computers to access your company's files stored on your server.

To provide other computers access to your company files saved on your server, you'll need to go through a series of procedures to set up and install a multi-user network. Please follow the instructions in this article: Set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop.

In addition, I've added this resource for more insight in case you've experience multi-user issues in QuickBooks Point of Sale: Troubleshoot multi-user issues in Point of Sale

Don't hesitate to post your reply if you need further assistance syncing other computer to your server. We're always here to help you.

The multi-user setup is already done for both POS and QB Enterprise desktop.

I am told that to do the POS to QB desktop sync, it has to be done of the computer hosting the files. I would like automate that, so general users are not accessing the server.

Appreciate the update, @pleaseheIplol1234.

As of the moment, there isn't an integrated way to automate the sync update from QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Instead, you can set up a financial exchange setting to transfer your data to QBDT hosting the server.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about your data transfer: Set up QuickBooks Desktop Connection Now in Point of Sale.

Lastly, I've also included this reference helpful for a compilation of answers to the most commonly asked questions while using POS: QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) FAQs.

If there's anything else that I can help you with aside from working with QuickBooks POS please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand. Take care always!
