Report on Hours

I received some help using the "More Excel Reports" in Employees and Payroll (Reporting), but that seemed to be for Vacation / PTO / Sick. I'm hoping there is someplace to get a report on any of the hours for an employee ... especially a report on overtime hours. Anyone have ideas on how to get a report on hours from a selection of hours available? Thanks.

Report on Hours

To generate a report specifically for employee hours, including overtime in QuickBooks, you can follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Reports → Employees & Payroll → Payroll Summary.
Customize the date range to match the period you're analyzing.
Review the columns for hours worked, including regular, overtime, and other categories.

If overtime hours are missing, ensure your payroll items are correctly categorized under overtime.

2. Employee Details Report:
Go to Reports → Employees & Payroll → Employee Details.
Customize the report to include columns for hours. You can add filters for specific hour types, like overtime, under the “Customize Report” settings.

If none of the built-in reports show exactly what you need, export the Payroll Detail report to Excel. Use Excel filters to isolate overtime hours or create a pivot table to analyze different hour types by employee.

Hope it helps

For future reference, here's a guide on how to customize your data, including adding or deleting columns, modifying the header/footer information, and personalizing the font and style of the report. Additionally, to save the report settings (customization) in QBDT, please refer to these articles:

Also, if you want to analyze your reports from QuickBooks in Microsoft Excel, you can easily export them as Excel workbooks (.xlsx), CSV files, or PDFs in QBDT: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions about managing employee hours in QBDT. Simply leave a comment below, and I'll be happy to provide the information you need. Take care and have a great day!
