setting number of days in advance for payroll reminder emails

We have migrated to QuickBooks Online Payroll from Intuit Online Payroll.  IOP sent payroll reminder emails earlier in the cycle and then sent a reminder closer to payroll date.  QOP send only a single message and too close to the date payroll must be entered.  Is there a way to adjust this?

I’m glad to see you in the Community, SoloStorm.

I’m glad to know that you’ve successfully migrated from Intuit Online Payroll (IOP) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll. Let’s update the Payday notifications preferences and choose the one you wish to use.

Both payroll services have similar options when setting up payroll reminders. For IOP, you have Send the Payday Reminder the day and Send the Payday Reminder the day before. While in QBO, you can select Send same day submission due and Send day before submission due.

Follow these steps to change your payroll reminder setup:

  1. Open your company file, and head to the Gear icon in the upper right to select Payroll settings.
  2. These steps will open a page that shows your payroll preferences.
  3. From there, go to the Email notifications section and click the Pencil icon to show more options.payroll reminder.png
  4. Click the drop-down below Payday notifications and choose any of the following options: Send same day submission due or Send day before submission due.payroll reminder.1.png
  5. Press Save and Done.

This process also applies to QBO Payroll ore, Premium, and Elite.

In regard to setting a field for days in your payroll reminder, I suggest you let our engineers know that adding this feature is beneficial to your business. Ideas like this will guide them to which area in the product needs further enhancements and may include in future updates.

Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon in the upper right to choose Feedback under Profile.
  2. In the Feedback window, enter your product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

I’m adding some links below to help you get around other payroll tasks easily in QBO Payroll. These resources contain topics about managing workers' information, running payroll, setting up automatic tax payments and form filing, and so on.

Don’t hesitate to drop a comment if you have additional concerns about changing your payroll reminder. I’ll jump right back in to get this taken care of for you.

Thank you, Rasa-LilaM (QuickBooks Team) -

I have entered feedback that it would be helpful to be able to set up two payroll notifications - a first notice the Thursday of the week before payroll is due.   Hopefully this feature will be enhanced to do this.
