sick and vacation limits

I get the following when entering hours "Warning: Sick Time Used Exceeds limit".  How do I turn this off so it doesn't calculate so this will not come up anymore?

sick and vacation limits

It's awesome to have you here in the Community, @dlmarkley68! Thanks for reaching out regarding the Sick Time Used Exceeds Limit warning in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To resolve this and prevent the warning from popping up when you input hours, you can either adjust the maximum accrual limits for sick pay or turn on the Do not accrue employee sick and vacation hours for Sick and vacation hours paid option. I'd be glad to guide you through the process.

Here's how to adjust the max accrual limits:

  1. Navigate to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Choose Payroll & Employees and open the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Under the Set Preferences For section, click Sick and Vacation.
  4. Make any necessary adjustments. If you're unsure, use this article as a reference: Understand sick pay accrual limits in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
  5. Hit OK to apply the changes.

Alternatively, follow these steps to enable the Do not accrue employee sick and vacation hours for Sick and vacation hours paid option:

  1. Go to Edit and choose Preferences.
  2. Select Payroll & Employees, then Company Preferences.
  3. Click the Sick and Vacation button.
  4. Under the Sick and Vacation Accrual section, tick the Sick and vacation hours paid box.
  5. Hit OK.

Once you’ve completed these steps, try entering the hours again to check if the warning still appears.

If you need to update pay schedules, check out this article for more guidance: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

Feel free to return to this thread if you have any other QBDT-related concerns. Helping you with seamless payroll setup is always a pleasure. Take care and have a great day!
