We run a fast food restaraunt with high turnovers. I would like to know how I am going to get birthdates for employees that no longer work here. I am required by law to printa nd give them a W-2 and I am hearing I cannot print W-2-'s without a birthdate. If Intuit wanted to do this thay should have started at the beginning of the year. I need to know how Intuit expects to take care of this problem. I understand my desktop version is no longer vaible after 5/24, maybe I should look for a new accounting program.

The problem with that is, they are saying it will not let you print W-2's without a birthdate!

In QuickBooks Desktop, the W-2 forms are required to include the employee's birthdate for accurate tax reporting.  

Since employees are no longer associated with your company, I recommend verifying their status with your local or state tax agency. By doing so, they can guide the necessary steps to take in such situations.

Have you ever processed a W2?  Birthdates are not required by the Social Security Administration and or IRS - do you see anywhere on a W2 where that data is provided! NO!  Whomever decided and programmed this requirement into your Quickbooks software to be REQUIRED is absolutely wrong.  This is a decision on the users part of your product if they need to obtain it or not.  So I repeat the product needs to be updated and the "requirement" removed. 

I actually called QB and was told to make up a date.  So, they actually told me to lie.  I put 01/01/01 for all birthdates.  If it has infact been rolled back, I will now have to go and remove all those fake birthdates.  Unbelievable.  Second, I this week, I was working on a payroll and could not proceed with an employee that I did not have complete information for.  In the past, you could put a name and make corrections at a later time.  My client did not have all the information.  So is it possible to roll that one back too? QB desktop is forcing us all to QBO.

No, W-2 forms are not required to include the employee's birthdate. Nor do they include it at all. Ever.

You're suggesting we can contact our "local or state tax agency" and get a birthdate for a person. There is no way that would ever happen. They would never be allowed to tell an employer such information.
