Why can't I file 941 for 2nd quarter? This is the message I receive when I try to file the form: "This form will be available soon. Please check back later."

The updated forms have been released by the IRS and desktop versions of Quickbooks already have the new form available.  Changes to the form incorporate sections fro FFCRA paid leave and also deferrals of employer SS.  No software company can release any new or updated IRS form until it is approved by the IRS so my guess would be that /Intuit online payroll has yet to receive the go ahead from the IRS for their form.

In the meantime you are free to download the current form from irs.gov, fill it out, and spend 55 cents to mail it in.

@john-pero The only problem with your suggestion to manually, snail-mail file is that I (and many of us here) are paying QBO a monthly fee to e-file.  As of yet, we still cannot access and e-file our 2020 Q2 Form 941 which is due 7/31/20. Sure, manual filing is a last resort.

@LAC1 Then you and all the others in the same boat need to call your congressmen and congresswomen and have them all call Treasury to fast track the form approval.

From filing the desktop payroll version without a hitch, but seeing the extra almost page that most will skip over (FFCRA and FTE retention credits) the form itself is much changed and it is NOT just a simple matter (although it could be) of uploading a filled in pdf or even attaching the approved desktop version pdf to the onli e payroll.

My final suggestion for the future for those that can, switch back to desktop QB with desktop payroll. If you do not require multiple users on multiple devices ddsktop is far less expensive

QB originally did not have a provision set up in the system to track the deferred taxes.  Instead I was instructed to manually input tax payments for those amounts to trick the system into not filing.  When it came time to file the 941, those manual payments were not tracked. QB has still not updated the 2nd quarter 941 to move those dollars into the correct box.  I had to manually file my 941, but would like to get the QBO payroll updated for the manual filing.  Any suggestions?  Calls to support take way to long to get a resolution.
