Why doesn't my Payroll Settings menu show State Taxes or give me a place to enter FUTA? I am a Tenneessee LLC. Thanks.

I have not run my first payroll yet and apparently missed setting up FUTA and SUTA rates when I went through the first time.  My Payroll Settings menu does not show State Taxes nor does it show me a place to enter a FUTA rate.  Can you help?

I ran a test payroll and it is calculating the SUTA correctly at 2.7% (I still don't have a menu option for State Taxes however).  The FUTA should be calculating at 7% but it's calculating at .7% instead.  I'm still hoping for help if someone knows the answers?  Thanks.

Hey there, @rodney4. Hope you're having a fantastic evening.

Happy to help out here. I'd like to gain some additional insight into your situation. Are you using our Self-Service Payroll or Full-Service? If you're on our Full Service Payroll option, you'll want to get in touch with the Support Team to get those rates changed. Getting in touch is super easy and only takes a few clicks. Take a look:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click Help (?) at the top right.
  3. Choose Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.

That's it! Please touch base with us here if there's anything else you need, I'm determined to ensure your success. Have a good one!

Hello, @rodney4.

Let's make sure that you're able to enter all the important state information .

First, let's review your employee's work and home address.

  1. Go to the Workers menu.
  2. Choose the Employee tab.
  3. Open each employee details.
  4. Go to Section 5: What are (Employees) Withholdings?
  5. Below the W-4 information of your employees, review your employees State Tax information.
  6. Click Done.

Once completed, let's verify your payroll

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Select the Tax Setup tab.
  4. Click the State Tax Information.

From here, you'll be able to set up your State Tax Information.

That's my problem.  I don't have a State Tax option under the above #5 line in your first section  or #4 line in your second.  Tennessee doesn't have a State Income Tax but we do have SUTA.

I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure out what I need to change.

Thanks for everyone's help.  I do have the Full Service payroll online option.  I'm sure I am looking in the wrong place but I never see anything that says "If you're using the full service it's different." :-)
