Why is quickbooks saying I need to enter State Tax Info to pay my taxes when I can see that I have already entered it?

It's great to see a new face here in the Community. Let's work together and get this problem handled. 

 

Trying a few different troubleshooting steps should help fix the problem. Often the system will have glitches, and using a private browser or incognito window will help. Here's how depending on your browser session: 

 

  • Internet Explorer/Firefox: Ctrl Shift 
  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift 
  • Safari: Command Shift 

 

If this works, go back to your regular session and clear your browser's history. This will allow QuickBooks to load as a fresh new page to remove these glitches. If not, please provided me with some additional information or screenshots to help me determine the best solution for your business.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately this did not help. 
When I try to enter my state info it puts up this error message....see image below

I also notice that my state tax # is showing up under the unemployment information section. That is my correct state tax # there. I have not received my unemployment number yet.

It seems that the image isn't attached to your post. Allow me to explain the reason why you received such an error message.

 

QuickBooks Online won't allow you to settle your taxes with an incomplete payroll setup. You'll want to correct where the State Withholding Number is being entered. Remove it from the SUI section and enter it under the withholding section. You may check this article for the detailed steps: Changing a state account number.

 

Also, it's best to seek some help from our Payroll Specialist so they can further check your account.

  1. Click the (?) Help icon and enter Talk to a human (then type it again when prompted).
  2. When asked by the bot, enter "Pay Payroll Taxes".
  3. Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us or Get help from a human.
  4. Choose either Chat or Callback.

Thank you again for you response. I have tried to go into the settings and re-enter the information without any luck. I will take the steps you suggested on talking with a payroll specialist.
