Why won't my employee's federal taxes get deducted from their first paycheck?
That is not unusual. Depending on their filing status and exemptions, likely nothing is wrong. If they are highly compensated, then I would wonder. We have many part-time employees that are students or retired and working part-time and they often have no federal withholding, especially when they first get paid.
