Reporting hours to Paychex (PEO)

We recently moved to QBO from Desktop. In Desktop, we could print a report, Employee Time and Cost that would allow us to report the hours for our PEO to pay.

After switching, we realized this report does not exist is QBO. It has been suggested to use the Time Activity Detail report but this report doesn't show if the employee work Regular or OT hours, so it's not very useful. For those that use a PEO (specifically Paychex), how do you report your hours?

Reporting hours to Paychex (PEO)

We're glad to know that you still choose QuickBooks to help you manage your business finances, @Liddia. I'll walk you through attaining what you aim for in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll.

Similar to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), QBO has a report that shows employee time and cost.

You can generate the Payroll Details report to display the regular and overtime hours and use it for your PEO hours report. Here's how:

  1. In the left panel, click Reports and select Standard Reports.
  2. Enter the Payroll Details report in the search field and click it.
  3. Select a date period.
  4. Go to the Customize tab and choose an option in the What to include sections from your employees down to the columns you want to reflect. Then, Run report.

  5. Then, this will show you the employee hours and cost you need.
