There is already a tax payment for this period Before you can make any more payments for this period, contact us for assistance.

Hello there, deal1tc.

Please know that an error warning that says, "There is already a tax payment for this period Before you can make any more payments for this period, contact us for assistance" appears once you already previously paid the taxes outside the payroll system. I've got steps to fix this to ensure you can manage your tax payment accurately on the program.

To fix the error, I suggest recording prior tax payments within QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Taxes menu, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Select the Payments tab.
  3. Review the payments listed and locate the tax you want to record a payment for.
  4. If the payment is listed, choose the option Mark as paid. Then, select Yes, mark paid

If the payment is not listed, you can resume with the steps below:

  1. Select Prior tax history.
  2. Choose Add Payment.
  3. Select tax type and liability period (the period that the taxes were accrued). Then, enter the Period Start Date and Period End Date - the period that the taxes were accrued, Payment Date, and Payment Amount.
  4. Click OK. You will then be back on the Prior Tax Payments screen.

In case you need steps to edit a prior payment in QBO, you can refer to this: Record tax payments made outside of QuickBooks Online Payroll. It also has further information for recording prior tax payments in QBO.

Moreover, if you don't have the option above, feel free to reach out to our Payroll Support Team to ask for assistance. They have the tools to pull up your account and deeply investigate the cause of the error you received.

Lastly, you can read this artilcle if you need steps on how to e-file your tax forms in QBO: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms electronically in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Please don't hesitate to swing by the Community whenever you have more questions concerning tax payment. I'm always around to assist you further, deal1tc. Stay safe.
